Position Overview: The Senior Staff Nurse – Operation Theatre (OT) In-Charge at BRB Hospitals Limited plays a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth functioning of the Operation Theatre. This position requires strong clinical skills, leadership qualities, and the ability to manage and coordinate all aspects of OT operations effectively.

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee the daily operations of the Operation Theatre, including scheduling surgeries, and coordinating with surgeons, anesthetists, and other team members.
• Ensure the availability of required surgical equipment, instruments, and supplies.
• Prepare the OT environment before surgery, ensuring cleanliness, proper lighting, and availability of necessary equipment.
• Assist the surgical team during procedures, anticipating their needs and maintaining sterile conditions.
• Provide guidance, direction, and support to the OT nursing staff, ensuring optimal performance and adherence to protocols.
• Conduct regular team meetings and educational sessions to enhance the team’s skills and knowledge.
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthetists, and other medical staff to ensure efficient patient care and smooth surgical procedures.
• Communicate effectively with pre-operative and post-operative nursing teams for seamless patient handover.
• Handle emergency situations in the OT, making quick decisions to ensure patient safety and well-being.
• Demonstrate proficiency in handling critical incidents within the OT environment.
• Monitor the availability of surgical supplies, instruments, and equipment, ensuring they are properly sterilized and maintained.
• Manage inventory levels and submit requisitions for timely procurement.
• Maintain accurate and detailed documentation of surgical procedures, patient records, and equipment usage.
• Ensure compliance with hospital policies and regulatory requirements.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes, infection control, and safety within the OT.
• Contribute to regular audits and feedback mechanisms for continuous improvement.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree/Diploma in Nursing from a recognized institution.
• Registration with the Bangladesh Nursing and Midwifery Council (BNMC).
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in a surgical setting, preferably in an OT environment.
• Strong clinical skills and knowledge of surgical procedures, aseptic techniques, and infection control.
• Leadership qualities, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively in a team.
